Empowering Young People and their Communities. Art to engage, educate and unite.

Introduction

World Refugee Radio podcast - funded by the Global Education Fund

Using the art of performance we seek to engage and empower young people; to creatively explore beliefs, behaviours and choices; to encourage self-awareness and to facilitate positive change.

Our starting point is each person’s own experience.  We believe everyone has a story to tell and a story worth hearing, something to give and something to learn.  Participants will be both student and teacher.

Our projects are workshop based and lead by skilled and experienced drama facilitators. They will guide participants towards the creation of an original piece of theatre, unique to that group. The project will culminate in a public sharing of their work.

The theme of each project is determined by the needs of the group and their community. From the start we encourage young people to take ownership of their project, giving them appropriate freedom to create their own outcomes.

Voice Arts has no physical base.  We take our work to the community, utilising existing community halls, schools and open spaces.  We have few overhead costs and the majority of funds are used to employ dedicated, passionate and professional facilitators.
